Budget 2013: Funds for Metro to help NCR thrust

NEW DELHI: Delhi Metro has been allocated Rs 5,181 crore, an increase of Rs 670 crore from the previous Budget, largely for construction of the Phase III corridors. It has also got an additional Rs 120 crore for expansion in Faridabad and Bahadurgarh. The allocation was expected as the budgetary support is crucial for implementing the ambitious expansion of Metro lines across the city, said sources in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The Metro has already begun construction of Phase III corridors that will add another 103km of NCR to its map.
