Farmers lay siege at Noida Extension housing site

NOIDA: Hundreds of farmers armed with pick-exes and lathis stopped construction work at a housing project in Greater Noida West (Noida Extension) on Thursday after goons allegedly hired by the developer entered a village late on Wednesday night and brutally thrashed a dissenting family, including their 70-year-old mother. The family has alleged that they got no compensation for the land that had been acquired for Gaur City project. At least 300 farmers were taken into preventive custody.
