Cement prices jump by 46% in 20 days

VISAKHAPATNAM: The construction industry has been badly hit with cement prices shooting up by Rs 100 per 50 kg bag from Rs 215 to Rs 315, representing a jump of 46% in 20 days. The spike in prices will also hit home buyers and cement dealers in city, where around 1.5 lakh tonnes of cement is needed for construction activity every month, according to Parasurama Raju of the Waltair Steel and Cement Dealers Society.
