75 structures razed at Khed-Shivapur

PUNE: Around 75 buildings and small shops were demolished at Khed-Shivapur on the Pune-Satara road on Tuesday. Debris and silt were also cleared from small water bodies like nullahs and streams at Shindewadi near the Katraj tunnel. The action by the district administration and the National Highways Authority of India comes in the wake of the June 6 incident at Shindewadi in which a woman and the daughter were washed away in the rain waters near the tunnel. The structures that were pulled down were an obstacle to the widening of the road to six lanes. Demolition of some of the structures had been pending since more than seven years.
