Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board can attach assets of defaulters

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) can now attach and sell movable and immovable assets of chronic defaulters who have not been clearing their water dues for several years, under the Andhra Pradesh Rent and Revenue Sales Act, 1839. The state government has issued orders delegating powers to the Water Board’s general managers to attach and sell assets of defaulters. The revenue department issued two GOs – No 326 and 327- to this effect on Tuesday. According to the GO Ms No 326, the government has decided to invest the powers of tahsildar under the provision of section 7 of the Andhra Pradesh Rent and Revenue
