Govt to use own ‘vacant land’ for projects

Since coming to power in the state a year ago, the Samajwadi Party government has been avoiding major land acquisition and has even failed to come out with a fresh land acquisition policy as promised in the poll manifesto. But now the government has come out with a “unique” solution to make land available for development projects. The government has ordered a survey of “vacant land” lying with different departments — like housing, industry and mandi parishad — across the state and has asked them to make the “ideal use” of them for development projects.
