Irregularities in housing project alleged

MYSORE: Karnataka State DalitaSangharshaSamiti on Thursday staged a protest in front of the DC’s office here, demanding action against slum development committee officials for allegedly committing irregularities under JnNURM project. According to the protesters, the government had sanctioned Rs 47.78 lakh to construct 1,040 houses in Ekalavyanagar under the third phase of the project. Of the 750 houses, the committee has identified only 354 families, while leaving out the rest from the list. “The remaining houses built under the project were illegally sold for Rs 1 lakh to those who are not even beneficiaries,” said Samiti member Ningaraj Mallappa. “Since people living around Mysore Eye Hospital do not have shelter,
