‘Fraud in amnesty for illegal colonies’

New Delhi: A Delhi government report has found that officials broke all norms while offering amnesty to illegal colonies nearly four years ago and has called for a criminal probe to prosecute violators. The report submitted to the Chief Secretary last November has not been made public so far. Newsline obtained a full copy of the report through a Right to Information application. DDA to foot bill for common area upkeep

The Delhi Development Authority will make a onetime payment of R10 lakh for every 100 of its flats -or R10,000 per flat –to residents’ welfare associations to spruce up common areas of the buildings. Common areas are staircases, shafts and service lanes, which are in a shabby state in most DDA colonies because neither residents nor the Municipal Corporation of Delhi maintain them. Monorail project to cover Trans-Yamuna

Dwarka freight complex ‘poorly planned’, location might change

New Delhi: For all those who weren’t able to get a flat allotment under Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Housing Scheme 2010, here’s some good news. DDA has taken up construction of several housing projects in Dwarka, which are mainly meant for the higher income group (HIG). Many of these projects are being taken up in Sector 26 and 27 and will provide housing to thousands of people in the National Capital Region. According to DDA, around 1,240 HIG houses are coming up in Sector 19B. DDA housing scheme: Slip over wife’s name gives imposter away, arrested

New Delhi: He thought a bit of impersonation would help him get a flat under the DDA housing scheme. All he had to was pretend to be someone else and hoodwink the area SDM. But when the imposter erred while trying to recollect the names of the ‘other man’s’ wife and children, he was caught in the act. The man and his associate have been arrested. The incident was reported last week from the office of Ajay Arora, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Parliament Street. Based on the SDM’s complaint, police arrested the accused, identified as Gyan Chand, a resident of Ranhola in Najafgarh, and Diwan Chand, a resident of Amritsar, Punjab.
